You can't have a great day without a little Seuss in your life. So I've been nursing a fractured patella since April.. it's September now :( but a few months before I horrifically disfigured my knee (not really I'm a little dramatic sometimes, just go with it) I was in the process of skating my way onto a roller derby team.. or falling my way into it either way i was on skates in full gear on a skating rink doing things on skates that my whole body protested on the daily. BUT as some of you are thinking, I did not, I repeat DID NOT, break myself doing the many knee falls and slides during derby practice...I tripped at work. Yeah I've never been called grace before. I can't wait to get back to skating though. it's something I used to do every weekend growing up. There was this skating rink called Almeda Skate and I can still tell you all the smells (gross and not gross) and tell you my most requested songs to skate to made to a DJ that hovered in the corner of the rink in his Wizard of Oz manner, his minions not letting you pass to him unless you were A. his friend B. cute and flirtatious C. had a really good song request. Anyways.. I went back to my hometown and much to my dismay the rink has been shut down, just a shell of a building now.
And that my friends, is the beautiful floor where I skated out my childhood, couples skate was awesome especially when you were dating the rink ref.. If only I could remember his name.. hmm
So that's my memory lane walk for today. I'm heading out to the Local Farm Baseball Teams last game of the season.. my third game in as many days.. I think I have an obsession...with our catchers backside lol! Until I return make sure to have your fill of lollipops, cupcakes, and arsenic on the side <3
